You say "bogus" checks. There is a difference between bogus and bounced checks. Depending on the amount, it could be a felony or misdemeanor. This is definitely a criminal matter, if in fact the letter is from the DA's office, as they wouldn't be handling civil matters. I wouldn't send them any signature, because they will use it to incriminate you. If it is a misdemeanor, and there is a warrant for your arrest, most states will not opt to come get you in a misdemeanor case. I've worked in law enforcement, so I know. If you were to get stopped or arrested anywhere in the state it was issued, then they would most likely come get you. You need to consult a lawyer on this. You can find out if there is a warrant for your arrest by calling the county sheriff's department where the warrant was supposedly issued. They can tell you if it's a misdemeanor or felony. If in fact the letter from the DA is genuine, you should consult a lawyer before you do anything else, because this is a criminal matter. If they have already issued a warrant for your arrest, be wise and take the 5th and not say a word to them. Trust me, I know.
