I got behind on a credit card account due to illness.
The interest shot up to 23%. I contacted the Bank which issued it (US Bank) and advised them of the problem and asked if they would reduce interestso I could get it paid off. I advised I could not pay the amount to bring
it current but i did send them samller payments. I did this for over 3 months while I tried to get interest
stopped or lowered. I received acall from a US BANK
rep. and I advised him I was recording our conversation. He advised if I sent a certain amount that I could get the Interest lowered to 10 %. I sent him the amount he advised, But they didnt lower interest. I received several more calls which I recorded and each conversation promised the interest would stop if I paid another set amount. I ask them to send me something in writing to lock this agreement down. On of the reps. advised on recorded conversation he would fax it the next day. it never came. I stopped making payments and now they turned it over to collections. I have written a letter to US Bank advising them of the recorded phone conversations and the lies I was told. What do you think.. Im sure it will show up on my credit report and since it is almost $10,000 they might even sue. But if they sue I plan on showing the court I tried every way to make payments but I was just spinning my wheels at the high interest.
I also plan to play the recordings of their lies. any suggestions.
