National Check Control -- A Scam Agency?

I have been under attack by National Check Control (company in New Jersey) since November of last year for a check I never wrote. I have sent letters requesting a copy of this check, no response, I sent a certified letter, they refused it, I have filed a complaint with the New Jersey Attorney General -- anything else I can do? Has anyone else had experience with these folks? Are they legit or just preying on people? The have broken about three different aspects of the Fair Debt Collection Act every time I have tried to speak with them about this.
