Welcome to the post-nineties kleptopocalytic era.
Assume that indeed all companies are preying on you. The double-blind psychology test of the stupid seventies is standard biz practice today. In other words, when you order some product by mail at give-away price, know that the real objective is to gain as much personal info as possible, yoke you to some onerous committment, sell your personal data to the biggest sleazebags, and generally perpetrate against you.
You say these crackers have busted some FTC regs? Hey, give 'em the recognition they deserve. WRite them up before they even get back to you, kick them in their knobby little kneecaps, the better to smack them off balance.
They are all perps, take every legal means to burn them, let them know you mean business, not to be trifled with.
The postings here are filled with generously provided sound counsel. They also serve as depressing chronicle as to just how far we have devolved, as regards contemporary biz 'practices'.

Pax vobiscum,

Keyser
