Total Confusion,,,why chat or ladynred help........

I live in florida, i have several cc debts that are just being charged off..one with direct merchants bank sent me a letter that they had sold the acct. to alegris ll.. then i rec. a letter from alegris, saying they had purchased the acct. from direct merchant..today i rec. a letter from an atty. in ft.lauderdale, saying that the acct. had been turned over to them by direct merchants bank and they are a debt collector for the above named...and that any info obtained from me in the collection of the debt will be used for the purpose of collection...the law firm is erskine and fleisher... My question is are two ca's working this acct. and if so who owns it...im totally confused and I don't know how to go about finding out. Also, what do i do now...do i ignore all, and wait to see what happens next. I'm afraid that if i ask anyone of them for validation they will go for suit and judgement..This acct is just been charged off..do they usually sue right away..or do they try to collect for awhile????your input would lead me in some direction on this...thanks
