As said the half-wit shakedown cop in the film The Usual Suspects, "I'm Shakin'." Wow-o-woo. Some time ago I was indeed frightened of this kind of talk, thanks to this wonderful service provided by WhyChat and all the generous contributors, I still hide under my bed most days, but I am not frightened of Asset Investigators.
If you talk to someone who in fact performs asset searches, you find that they don't qualify to work at collection agencies or credit card companies. First of all, their parents were not related before marriage. Also, costs for an asset search are about three to five hundred dollars per name per state, and this covers only banks. Brokerage searches are about fifteen hundred per name per state. As you'd guess, these searches usualy are performed for estate matters and other legitimate reasons.
What a bunch of BS artists. You know, an honest crook walks into a bank, points a toy gun at the teller, and leaves a hold-up note written on the back of his bar-tab, upon which is written his name and address.
A dishonest thug works for a collection agency.
Some of them can even spell 'asset investigator'. Now that this nom de guerre is debunked,what next? "Special Dee-tek-tive"? Or the tried and true "Chief Inspector". Good heavens, where's the airsickness bag?
