Citibank sueing me, I aready paid 5K!!! Help Whychat!

I had a credit card with 10K on it, I got behind in payments and was soon notified by a collection agency. I agreed to pay 50% of the debt. The collection agency guy said that would keep me from being sued and i assumed the debt was settled. Now I am being sued by Citibank for the remainder! I wrote a letter to the court and CRRR the attorney stating that I thought the debt had been settled and attached a copy of a letter showing they deducted 5K from my account. I explained that I am a mother of 3 that does not work and had to scrape the 5K together the first time. I live in TX, do not own a home, what should I do?
