22% ?? I don't anyone maintaining that level. I have only 2 cards above 70%, but what is the point of having a $10000 line of credit and never using it? They continually send bundles of checks, reminding you of your credit limit and to use them. Why not put a limit of $2200 with 100% usage instead?
Something is very wrong with the entire system if this is the case. Also, why do you think that having credit reserves available for emergencies is irresponsible? In my 56 years, I have only had 1 or 2 cases in my life that would have ever required this. Do most people have these on a yearly or monthly basis? I would use the reserve only if stranded in Kuwait and my tickets were stolen and if it is irresponsible to use them then, then so be it.
