Hi,
I have one charge off for a little over $1,000. There have been 3 collection agencies that have called me about it over the past 2 or 3 years. I never had the amount of money needed to pay it all off or to even agree to one of their settlement amounts but now I do. I'm not sure about who to call. I'd much rather deal with the creditor than with a collection agency because I trust them. I'd like to pay it off and maybe even get some of the negative info taken off of my credit report in exchange. How can I go about this?

I was told that I'll have a really hard time when looking for an aprtment and later on when I'll want to buy a home. It's really sad how college students (myself at the time) allow themselves to be sucked into the world of bad credit before they've matured enough to know the consequences. I feel like I may have really screwed up my life over this but I had no idea that this was what would happen or that this could happen. Anyway, what now?
