One way to stop a lot of these companies is to get your name on the opt-out lists that all 3 credit bureaus have.. and I'd be willing to bet that's where they got your name and number to start with. I believe you can opt-out online for 2 of the 3, I think I had to write a regular letter to TransUnion to opt-out. Anyway, since I did this, I think I've only received ONE 'pre-approved' credit card offer and NO BS from 'debt consolidation' places. Opt-out at the CRA's .. it cuts down on a LOT of junk mail ;)
