I got a call from this company,Compass Receiving, representing Citibank, they told me they were going to take me to court to get a judgement to garnish my wages. This was 23 days ago via a phone call. I have never recieved anything in the mail reguarding this, nor have I seen a sheriff. If the 30 days allowed comes and goes, can I call citibank and advise them that a company representing them made a threat they never intended to keep and call the debt paid in full per the fair debt act? The last payment made on this account was in May of 2001, and it is from New Mexico, and it was listed as a charge off in August of 2001, I now live in Virginia. I have NOT had any written contact with this company, nor have I been able to find anything on the web about them. Any advise would be appreciated.
Also, my husband has 2 judgements listed on his credit report, but he has never went to court for anything. We have researched this, and can not find out who the companies are, what do we do? This is also from New Mexico, and on the credit report it just says JUDGEMENT...I am really confused on this. Thanks in advance for your imput.
