Yes, you can file individually. Whether or not you can keep your spouse from finding out is another matter. The spouse's income and expenses would have to be listed on your household income/expense forms as well as the property held by one or the other of you or both.

Whether or not you can keep your car depends on your state and the level of exemptions available to you. We'd have to know your state first.
