First, let me say this is MY fault. I missed a payment, got hit with over the limit and late fees and haven't got back to square one since. I buried my head in the sand hoping it would disapper and now it is biting me in the butt.

Capital One is taking me to court for $1,300. Now mind you my original credit limit was $500. So in four months it doubled with fees. That is worse than the freakin Mafia.

I live in Virgina and received a warrent in debt to appear in Richmond, VA.. This is oh, a three hour drive from my house.. What is up with that???????

I called Capital One and they offered up a payment plan to settle the debt. Nothing spectacular 4 payments of $250 or 6 payments of $200. Now if I had cash like that I could have paid off the $500 card. At any rate, not knowing what to do I took the 6 payment route.

Did I do the right thing? He said the court date will go on, but it will be noted as paid as agreed if all my payments are on time. I do not want the embarrassment of having my wages garnished over this.

Any advise is welcome.

I'm off to review my finances and start calling people before they call me. Lesson Learned!

Ps. This forum is awesome I have learned a lot!!!!
