validation letter response

Hi,
OK....so I sent the validation letter out two weeks ago, and now they answered it. I got a big envelope in the mail today, with copies of all credit card statements. Several charges on this acct were made by my ex-husband, while we were still married (acct was in mine name only)....since I never signed the credit card slip for these charges that he made....can I get out of the charges he put on my acct? How do I contest some of these charges?
