Per the FCRA, you have a right to ask for their procedural report of HOW they did their investigation and HOW they verified and with whom. Don't let them duck out on this 'subpeona' garbage, write them a demand letter, send it certified and get the information you are entitled to via the FCRA !!

They're lazy and slippery - make them tow the line and produce the documents !

I believe this covers what you're after:

§ 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]
(a) Reinvestigations of disputed information.
7) Description of reinvestigation procedure. A consumer reporting agency shall provide to a consumer a description referred to in paragraph (6)(B)(iii) by not later than 15 days after receiving a request from the consumer for that description."
