You would have to file a motion for change of venue. 3 hours is a fairly long way and considering what you'd have to incur cost-wise to get to Richmond (loss of work, rental car, gas, etc.) I doubt a request for a change in venue would be denied.

Try calling the clerk of the court where the suit was filed and ask what papers you'd need to request this.

LawGuy or JR, as lawyers, would know what's involved.
