I have recently been victim to the terror tactics from Capital Acquisitions Management Company located in Rockford IL. They apparently have purchased an old debt of mine from Citibank. The credit card debt is well past the statute of limitations. CAMCO has called multiple times a day, harassing me with the intent to annoy even after I have asked them not to call this number. The only name the guy would give me was Mr. Ball, but that sounded suspicious. I was able to obtain their street address and verify it using Mapquest.com and Switchboard.com. The phone number listed has the same area code and prefix as the numbers on my caller ID. Here is their address and phone; Capital Acquisitions & Management Co

Phone:(847)303-5145 The last conversation on April 10th, 2003, I asked for proof of validation of this debt under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), section 809 entitled “Validation of Debts.” Mr. Ball responded with yelling and stating over and over, “Pay the debt Mr. XXXX.” Poor guy. I contacted a law firm in Chicago who has a class action suit on behalf of CA residents, hopefully we can nail these scam artist. The lawyers suggested in general that people complain to the FTC or file a small claims case for 1 to 2K. It is not economical to file an individual case for violation of verification requirements otherwise.
