whychat,lawguy,ladynred..i need all the help!!!

WhyChat,Ladynred,Lawguy...first of all, kudos to all of you who make a difference for uplifting and rejuvenating a lot of people who sometimes feel like falling into a miserable rut!!!!
i have been a homemaker for the past 7 years due to a lot of health problems. i have incurred thousands of debts with 4 different credit cards. for the past years, i have tried to be dilligent with my payments and have always maintained a good credit background. however, the past year havebeen trying times for me in all aspects of my life. and due to finance charges plus late fees i couldn't cope up. 2 of my original creditors have sold my account to collection agencies
located in minnesota and kansas. i have sent them a letter to validate my debts but so far, no response. they have tried calling me but have refused to talk to them after one nasty incident wherein they harrassed me.
i am in no position to offer to pay them anything. i live in delaware....all our accounts are joint and the primary name on all of these is my husband. we have lived in our house for five years now and have an existing first and second mortgage. the primary name on our mortgages is my husband.ireally do not have much assets except for a car with my husband's name as the primary owner. my question is....what statute of limitation will the credit agency follow....will it be the 6 years sol in their states or the 3 years for open accounts in my state of delaware? also, if they sue me, what can they get from me if i really have nothing to my name on my own.my hubby hasnever been a co-signor in any of my credit card accounts. the only debt we pay together is our first and second mortgage. i need your help. they might sue me soon...will i just file for chapter 7? whatever help you can render will be appreciated!!!!
