The thing is, mant CA's believe this, just as they believe that CC accounts are written accounts. They have been tolkd these things. I was reading the collectors message board, and saw them posting this to each other - "just get a payment and you restart the SOL" - the fact is, if you don't pay, eventually you can chase them off. If you pay one, all the others see it and come after you. If you settle, they promise not to sell it, then they sell it anyway.

We have to deal with reality. So, once in a while you come a cross a collector who knows his job and the law - after exposure to so many unethical, borderline criminal CA's who is going to believe them? Just like they think everyone who owes money is deadbeat scum, on drugs or worse.

If the credit/collections industry would police their own industry, perhaps the situation would improve. Until them I will advise what is best for the consumer. It is a business decision, not a moral decision. The credit industry has forced consumers to think this way, now they have to live with the consequences. We are the consequences.

I get NOTHING out of doing this. Absolutely nothing. No one who is giving advice here gets anything out of it. I am not in debt myself, I have no agenda. Politically I am conservative. But what is happening to consumers in this industry is WRONG!!! I will help them fight back, and I will work to change the system. We have to get it to where the industry knows that they cannot do this anymore and get paid.

As far as telling who is in trouble and who is taking advantage - as I said, I have no way of knowing. That is their business - it is of no concern to me, unless they state that they intend to commit some crime.
