If you do not reaffirm on a vehicle and the debt is discharged, then even if you stop paying and they repo it, you will NOT be liable for any deficiency - you walk away clear.

The same can be true for a home. They'll still forclose, but it the debt is discharged - and most home aren't, people want to keep those, then they can't come after you for any deficiency.
