Stolen or lost cards

What happens if your card is lost or stolen? What if the account is not paid, will it always show as an unpaid account? What if the account is paid in full? Will it show as two seperate good accounts? I know to call and have it cancled, just want to know what will happen to the reporting of the accounts to my credit report. Has anyone had this happen to them and knows just what the out come is? I don't need another account opened in my name, as I just opened a new account last month with my cu as a secured loan and it really hit my scores bad.
