Hope someone can advise on this. I live in CA. I have a civil judgement on my CR from over 3 years ago. I was never served any papers and was not aware of any civil procedings until my bank account was liened months later. The claim was unjust, but I did't have the money to hire an attorney to dispute it and saw no way of having my voice heard in court on my own. Now I'm still having trouble trying to obtain credit and was told to not even bother trying to buy property.

Is it better to try to settle with the crook or is there any way to try to dispute it? The amount is $1500. Would the court even listen after 3 years?
