You don't need to "find out why." I'll just tell you :)
They pulled your report because they bought a debt from someone. They're checking up on you to see what your financial situation is so they know how much hard ball they can play, and how many threats they need to issue. They also want to know how much you can afford to pay, how extended your credit is, etc... that way they can more effectively decide on how much to settle for, how seriously to take YOUR threats if you make them, etc etc.
