Validation with OC?

Hello everyone...
For months now i have being disputing items from my credit report. But, now I need some guidance: CC account originally with Providian, charge off as of 02/00 and sold two months later to Northland?...
The new holder never contacted me, but placed updates in CR... New holder didn't verify to CRA's but OC did and sent me that letter (about couldn't establish responsability over such account)...I have a collection of letters now from Providian but item "remains" in CR.
Now, can I send validation letter to OC? even if they sold the charge off. What can I do?
I live in CO state.
