Validation does not work with OC's and since they no longer own the account, they're not going to do anything with it anyway. If you've got a letter from the OC stating they can't verify the account is yours, that's key. Send your dispute of this account to the credit burueas - the CA has been unable to validate - they're supposed to get proof from the OC. The OC ADMITS they can't prove it - no proof means the CRA's have to remove the entry from your CR !
