Providian is still doing this. Maybe not in California, but they are in Michigan and surrounding states. From what we heard at our last forum, Providian is doing it in other states too. What edatthebank said is true. Some attorneys in other states have banded together and refuse to handle a collection case for Providian because it makes the law firm look like it is in with Providian in Providian's illegal actions.
