I made an arrangment with Providian at 9.99%

$150 per month and i paid it as agreed. They sent me a confirmation letter. Two months later i get a call from a CA telling me that now they are handling the account . I called Providian and asked them; what's going on? Providian rep told me, that it does not matter what kind of an agangement i'm on, they can still hire a CA to collect the money, and at the same time she said, that account was not charged off. In addition she said , that the letter they sent me does not mean anything. Would't it mean that they breached a contract? The letter states the new terms and at the end it says; "If you do not pay the full monthly amounts listed in this letter by the payment due dates, the previous terms of your account as explained in your account agreement may be reinstated, and collection efforts may resume". I'bm so confused, can they do that? Thank you.
