No a CA cannot issue a 1099 UNLESS they paid full price to the OC for the account.

What makes you so sure you will be sued? Does your credit report indicate you have lienble assets? Garnishable wages?Other income? Have you been paying off or settling with other creditors?

If a CA sees they have little or no chance to collect on a udgment, it is doubtful they will sue.If you make a fuss and demand "validation" and dispute accounts, and are within SOL, they probably WILL file suit, as this shows you care about your credit and are more likely to pay.
