Putting off creditors....

How difficult is it to just "put off" my credit card companies? I went through CCCS to pay my credit cards, and the balances were hardly dropping at all. I saw no point in continuing, so I just stopped paying. It's been at least 4 months since I've paid anything. I have accounts with Capital One, Providian, and Cross Country Bank. Cap. One is the lowest....about $400, and the others WERE less than $1,000 each, but with fees are way over that now.

Nobody ever calls except Cross Country. They are relentless and call AT LEAST 4 times a day....some days more than that, but I NEVER, EVER answer their calls. They call me at work most of the time, and every great once in a while, they will call at home.

My BK was final in 2000 (it was all medical), so I can't file again until 2006, correct? (I live in Indiana).

How difficult will it be do you think to put them off until I can file BK? I don't own a home, I rent. My husband and I both have vehicle payments, so we don't yet own our cars and won't for another 4 years. I know they can garnish our wages, but would they do you think? What about our bank account? The credit cards are either in my name or his, but not both together, but our bank account is a joint account.

Thanks for any advice you can give..
