I recently got offered a new job at a very good company. Although this position has nothing to do with finances whatsoever, they run both background and credit checks..I am not worried about the background check, I do not have anything listed, but I recently filed for bankcrutpcy, chapter 7, which should be discharged in June. Therefore, my credit report must look horrid. During our orientation, the woman stated "don't worry, if you have bad credit, we don't hold it against you". So why run a credit check? I am just wondering since she said this, to me it seems like my credit report won't have any effect on me getting the job! I am planning to give notice to my current employers today, but that is the only thing I am worried about. Again the job has NOTHING to do with finances....thanks.
