Both dates are with respect to the ORIGINAL CREDITOR ONLY. The only time a SOL could possibly start LATER than the first default date would be IF somehow a charge for a purchase got put through on the account the month AFTER the first month of default. Payments made to an OC that are after "late charges" or "past due fees" are added DO NOT EXTEND THE SOL. In almost all cases in those States where the SOL starts from the last payment or charge on a CURRENT account, the SOL starts a month prior to those States where it begins with the first default date.
