I just noticed a medical collections letter that why chat suggested to another person and I have questions, considering that I have three medical collections on my report. I planned on paying them when I got the money, but just before I was about to pay to the hospital, I called to get specific directions on who to pay. They told me to come to the hospital and pay, but the day before I was about to, I got a credit report that I had requested and it had been turned over to a collection agency according to the report. I figured at that point that if I paid them I would still have the collection on my report for the next 7 years, so I didn't pay. Now I see this letter and think there might be hope. If I send this letter with payment, is there any way that I can get screwed and they not take it off of my report? Also, if they don't take it off, is there any way I can make them remove it, like going to court (and how much money would I have to pay to go this route in lawyers fees?) Just for information, I have 3 such collections on my report. Park Plaza Hospital (145.00), Swan Medical Emergency Services (280.00), and Bayou Park Hospital services (275.00). They range from 1999 to 2000 as far as when I got them on the report. One in particular, is stating that a doctor didn't get paid, even though my health insurance paid the bill to the hospital, just not to him. And would I be correct in assuming this only applies to medical collections that you want to pay off and not any other kinds of collections? Thanks in advance for any replies.
