citibank bought out AT&T universal cards somewhere around that time. There is no harm in asking for validation and I would get it out tomorrow morning certified. If you have his fax then send that by fax also. Also, and I am sure whychat will correct me if I am wrong, I was not aware that a CA attorney can add on outrageous or actually any attorney fees unless he actually took you to court. This sounds alot like extortion. Get a tape recorder fast and record him the next time he calls.
