I received a civil summons on behalf of Citibank from a lawyer, brought by a sheriff. What should I do? It is asking for more than I can pay. Before I was served I offered to make payments to citibank on the account they would not accept. I think i made them angry, I filed a complaint againist them for calling me at work, after I sent them a do not call letter. Should I offer to make payments through the lawyer. All my other creditors are working with me but not these people. I closed the account on my own. I live in NC. Can they garnish my husbands income also, accounts are in both names, not much there, at least not enough to even come close to paying off debt. I owe more on my house than it is valued, I am making payments on a car. Nothing else in my name. Thanks
