I also couldn't post, but this has to do w/ my question. I'm trying to settle w/ American Express (they have a judgement against me that hasn't been abstracted yet). I have made a settlement offer via their attorney and have asked what they will do as far as reporting to the credit bureau. I was told it would show settled in full. I'm not so worried about dealing w/ an attorney's office, but for MBNA, they have sent it to Enhanced Recovery Corp., and I'm trying to settle with them, as well. They said they would send a letter that say's it's settled in full and that I can send that to the credit bureau. I don't know if I trust them. Can they sell the balance? I am trying not to file bk, but if that can happen, I will need to. If they do give me a letter stating it's settled in full, does that protect me?
