Settled in full is still a nasty negative on your credit report. The ONLY way to stop the remaining balance of a settlement from being re-sold is to get a 1099-C from MBNA, and make it an absolute no-negotiation item in your settlement agreement.

The only thing a letter from MBNA is going to get you is something else to send to the next CA who gets the un-settled balance. If you're lucky you can deflect them with it.
