Never trust anything a collection agency tells you, they want your money and will do anything to get it ! They cannot update *MBNA's* entry on your CR, but they CAN delete all of THEIR entries - happens all the time. Your score MIGHT go up a couple of points by getting the CA's deletion, but other than that, I wouldn't count on much.

This BS about them not being able to sell the remainder is crap, they can and they will likely do so. They get their cut and commission, then they sell it for a few dollars and someone else comes in for THEIR cut later.

I guess a lot depends on how badly you want to settle this thing right now.
