Actually,

I'm assuming that if you did it right, it would stand. We all know they lie, which is why you must make sure it's done correctly.

If you have to go through the trouble of finding out the owner's/agent's name of the business, and having their signature notarized on the agreement, then so be it.

If they are greedy enough, and we know they are, very few of them would be able to resist a settlement offer, because you know they are making, not losing money on the settlement. (Most of them would sign over their first born to collect any money..hehe)

After all, there is absolutely no point in settling with a CA, if they turn around and sell the balance. (of course, even having the settlement done right, wouldn't guarantee they wouldn't sell it, but then you would be in a positition to sue them)

It would be just plain stupid to settle for any amount less than the balance, if the CA is able to resell the balance. You might as well pay them the whole balance, or you will be right back where you started.

I'm still of the opinion, if it's done correctly, it would be binding in a court of law.
