Camco...have I messed up?

I got a call on an old debt. It was Camco. I did owe the debt and they told me if I pay the full principal amount they would remove the debt from my credit record. I sent the check priority mail yesterday. Today I was thinking, "what if this is a scam?" So I looked them up on the net and this site is the first place I found.

Are they going to take my money and run? I still have time to stop payment.
