If you settle then the wording should say settled in full which means they will still sell the remaining balance but they are basically full of it. they must put 0 balance settled for less than full amount. Of course, settled is as bad as a BK so go for deletion and get it in writing. When was your last payment on these cards, is this a cc, and what state are you in. they can offer alot better than that.
