I need some advice. My CitiCorp credit card account turned delinquent and escalated to them having a law firm file in superior court, and they are now trying to serve me. It is unlikely they will succeed in serving me, but the amount owed is over $10K and I lost my job so I simply can't pay. 1) can they file a judgement without serving me; 2) is there a way to go back to Citicorp and negotiate on getting my payments set up again and out of collectors/lawyers hands; 3) any ideas how to best approach this if I don't have the money to settle for 60-70% on the dollar and want to restart my payments until a get another job. Further, I don't want to give my address location and contact number when I talk about resolving this, but how do you do that and have a good faith effort in resetting this debt, if possible. I also don't want to use a lawyer friend since they could just serve him if he agrees to represent me. Please advise on the best approach and any alternative strategies available.
