12 year old bounced check

The other day I received a notice from a law firm attempting to collect money for a check (Ames Dept. store)I bounced 12 years ago! I declared bankruptcy after that in 1992, however, not sure if I named them as a creditor. My question is - isn't there a statute of limitations or something? Any help would be appreciated.
