Do NOT sacrifice your 401K. Not only will you incur a tax liability, it'll be a waste of your retirement money.

The reason the CC companies wouldn't 'deal' with you a couple of months ago is because you weren't badly past due and they absolutely WILL NOT put anyone on a hardship program unles and until you're nearing charge-off. You're getting there now, 3 more months and they'll be charged-off, so its highly likely they would now put you on a hardship program. I'd call them all back and ask again. Cap1 and Providian are likely to sue so you need to be VERY careful there.

Try for the hardship programs now. Get the late and over-limit charges stopped and hopefully they'll drop the interest. They will usually start with 6 month programs -- see if you can get one for 1 year.
