Removal of collection agency info from credit report...

I have 2 collection
agency items on my credit
report.
One is still open with IC Systems collection
agency.
It is for $105 and it is a dentist bill. I didn't even realize that I owed the dentist this money and I never received any of the letters from IC Systems. I saw this dentist over 3 years ago when I lived in another state. The letters were all sent to a PO Box I had in the other state and never forwarded to me where I live now. IC Systems says the letters were never returned to them so they consider me notified adequately. I talked to IC Systems and I overnighted them the payment. They told me that they have a "no delete" policy and cannot remove the information from my credit report. Like I said, I didn't even realize I owed this money until
it showed up on my
credit report while applying for a
mortgage. I want this off my report, if possible. I just read some info on this site which says, "some debtors may be able to negotiate with the creditor to have the item removed from the consumer's credit reports in exchange for partial or full payment. This must be
done directly with the creditor, not with an outside
collection agency."
Now I'm confused-- does this mean that maybe the dentist
would be willing to drop this from my
credit report
and I should talk to her directly? I overnighted a payment to IC Systems-- should I put a stop payment on that check until I see if the dentist will remove this from my credit report? Why wouldn't the collection agency tell me it's up to the dentist and they do what they are told by the original creditor? How do I go about handling this? I also have a charge off for about $100 with Gulf State Credit-- I have no idea what that is either-- I got their number from a post below so I'm going to call them tomorrow and try to handle that situation. Any help on how or if I can get this stuff removed from my report would be **greatly** appreciated! Thank you!
