A couple of points here: If you plan to record any
collection phone calls, be sure to check the laws
for your specific state first. Some prohibit
recording unless both parties are informed, but
some only require one party to know about it.

Yes, the Federal Trade Commission enforces the
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and accepts
complaints about violations. Note, however, that
they do *not* get involved with specific cases, and
just count up the complaints until there are enough
to indicate a serious pattern of abuse/violation.
