What is Up with Credit Reporting Agencies??

I just tried to get a car loan and Equifax is showing that my visa card is in for collection. It is NOT!! I called the bank that issued my visa card (over 2 years ago) and they have me has a perfect customer, no late payment, no over credit limit, nothing negative. The person I talked to stated that I need to let equifax know that I am in good standing with my visa card and they have never reporting negative info on me.

How can these agencies just report what they feel like, If Equifax has it I am sure that the other 2 do also. This is crazy, how can the average american fight with such large companies, I know after spending several hours of my time and money this will be cleared up, put the point is this should never of happen in the first place.

We all put WAY to much faith in a credit report, we all assume that everything in the report is 100% true, well it is NOT.

I would like to know how a company can make such a mistake and then it is up to the individual to fix the mistakes they made, and to top it off we are the ones that spend money and time, while it cost them nothing.

What steps should I take? Contact eqifax in writing first, or the bank that issued the card and ask for their help?
