Over Credit Limit

I purchased $4,200 of appliances from Sears last May and I paid using Cash, Amex, my existing Sears account and a new Sears account opened that day.

The sales person told me I was approved so we completed the transaction. A few weeks ago I realized that the new account has been over the limit since day one and reported to the credit agencies.

The appliance I bought on the new account was in fact approved but the extended warranty was not...$219.99.

They say the company policy is to allow over the limit spending for an extended warranty.

It is a 12 months 0% interest account and I really didn't look at the statement closely. Bal due 05/01.

I've spoken to several people at Sears and they all agree that my rep's arithmatic was bad but pass me on saying there's nothing they can do about it.

The sales rep (who admits to the mistake) could have charged my Amex asked for more cash or I could have declined purchase of the extended warranty entirely, certainly didn't need it in exchange for neg. credit reporting.

All Sears accounts are in good standing, never late but the rest of the world won't see it that way.

I'm already in dispute with Trans Union and Equifax is there anything else I can do?

Signed Duped Warranty Owner!

Please Help...My credit score is 635 and I want to refi in the spring. How much does this hurt?
