Can the SOL extend more than the specified time

I was told by an attorney that the SOL on credit card debts
could go beyond the specified SOL depends to the particular
case. I did not believe that because if it is true,
what is the purpose of the SOL. 1. Is that true or the attorney is trying to convince me to file
a bankruptcy so he can make money. 2. Is there a way where the SOL does not apply in credit card debts. Thank Larry
