My Namew is Terry Valmont. I work for a lawfirm that does collections on national accts. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) protects you in that, a Consumer may contact the agency collecting upon them, in writing, and request the proof of the debt. In most cases the Collection agency/Law firm does not hat this information on file. They may do 1 of 2 things.
1. Request the needed materials from the original creditor. And send you a copy

or they may
2. Cancel the collection item if they cannot get their hands on the documents requested.
