CAMCO trying to extort money from me!

I have read many stories about this company in the last few days. Now here's mine: "Linda Moore" called me and told me that I owe over $800 on a loan I took out from First Bank in 1992. I have never heard of First Bank, and did not take out any loans of any kind until 1996 (student loan). She said she would settle for $250. I asked for proof of the debt faxed to me. She told me that she had no information to send me, but I had to pay it today. I said I pay nothing without proof, and I know this is bogus anyway. She told me it was on my credit report, and they would take it off for $250. I looked at my credit just 2 weeks ago, and there's nothing there. When I told her that, she said "well, right now it's just an inquiry, I haven't reported it yet." She continued to threaten to mess up my credit, but wouldn't prove the debt. I told her that this was extortion, and it's illegal. She got very uppity, and told me not to insult her company. I finally got someone to agree to fax me proof, but they told me if they did I would have to pay the full amount. I said it was worth giving up the "settlement" to see actual proof. No fax ever came. These people have my name, address, and Social Security number. How did they get it? This "debt" is pure fiction. What can I do to these thugs?
